Simple Basketball Drill - Drawing The Contact

by Oswald Cobblepot

Basketball Drill

Here's a simple basketball drill that teaches players how to draw contact on their drive to the basket.

To be a great basketball player, you need to be able to draw the foul on the drive and still make the bucket. It's a good quality to have in basketball - especially at the younger levels.

This basketball drill is simple. It requires two players. One stands under the basket, and the other drives the ball in and attempts to draw the foul. The man under the basket needs to try to block the driver's layup.

Another option is to have the defender hold some sort of padding (football blocking shield, etc) and bump the player as they drive in for the lay-up. This will teach the offensive player to absorb the contact while staying focused on their shot.
