Hey Derek,
I'm not sure if there are specific basketball scoreboard rules. There are so many different types of scoreboards, and they all operate a little differently.
The main components are score, time, fouls, possession and quarter - pretty simple and straight forward.
I would check with your basketball coach or league director for specific directions.
