The Famous Poster of Dr. J

In my opinion, Julius Erving is The Best NBA Player in the history of the game. Everybody talks about Michael Jordan but it was Dr. J that really got people excited about the professional game and "The Dunk".

He scored over 30,000 points in his career and was selected to several All-ABA teams and All-NBA teams. He was also voted the MVP of the ABA and NBA several times.

He played his college ball at UMASS and then went on to play in the American Basketball Association (ABA) for the Squires and Nets along with such greats as Artis Gilmore. The ABA introduced such innovations as the red, white, and blue ball along with the 3-point shot. Dr. J then went on to play in the NBA for the Philadelphia 76ers where he won an NBA championship in 1983.

I had never been much into basketball until I heard about "The Doctor" and watched him in a couple of games. When we teens played pick up games, we used to imagine ourselves as Julius Erving and playing above the rim....Thanks, Doc, for everything you did for the game!

Somebody's a Huge Dr. J Fan!
by: Joe Waters - webmaster

Stacey, I love your excitement for "The Doctor"

I was a huge 76ers fan growing up and thought their team with Dr. J, Bobby Jones, Maurice Cheeks, Andrew Toney and company was one of the greatest ever.

They were fun to watch and Dr. J was magical on the court.
