John Wooden Basketball Quote

"Never mistake activity for achievement."

John Wooden

This is a basketball quote that I share with my players every season. I keep it posted on our bulletin board in the locker room.

It lets the players and coaches know that just because we're moving and being active doesn't mean we're achieving our goals.

We have to move with a purpose. Practice and play with a purpose. When we do that then we're moving towards achieving our goals. Not just being active.

This is my favorite basketball quote by the greatest coach in the history of college basketball.

Excellent John Wooden Basketball Quote
by: Joe Waters - webmaster

John Wooden was truly an amazing coach; there is no question about that. I've read a lot over the years about his coaching philosophy, coaching style, approach to the game and how he interacted with his players.

Here's what has always impressed me most about Coach Wooden, and I think this quote exemplifies this. His main focus was always to make his basketball players better individuals.

Yes, he wanted them to be successful on the basketball court...but more importantly, he wanted to teach them how to be successful in life.

That's what made him such an effective and successful basketball coach.

This is a great basketball quote that can be applied to life on and off the court.

Thanks Kevin for the excellent John Wooden Basketball Quote!
