Inspirational Basketball Quote By Bobby Knight

"You don't play against opponents, you play against the game of basketball."

- Bobby Knight

This is a great reminder that even competitive games are all about doing your personal best. It's not about beating the competition, it's not about being better than someone else--it's about being the best that you, personally, can be.

This is good advice for all of life. Competition is a great thing, but it's important to remember that the purpose of competition isn't to win, it's to help you reach new goals and achieve new challenges.

Competitive games are about building yourself up, never about dragging others down.

Bobby Knight Knows Basketball
by: Joe Waters - webmaster

This is a great basketball quote by Bobby Knight...thanks Jason.

I think it helps prove that yes, we all love to compete against other players, coaches and teams, but the real challenge is competing against ourselves and the game itself.

You get better at basketball by setting your standards high enough so that you have to work your tail off to get to that level. In the process of working hard and getting better, you are in a constant battle with the game of basketball.

What can you do, what are you willing to do to become the best basketball player YOU can be. That has nothing to do with your opponent...just your desire, effort and dedication to the game of basketball.

NOTE: This same idea applies to coaches. What are you doing to become the most knowledgeable basketball coach you can be? Just like your players, you're also competing against the game of basketball...just in a different manner.

Thanks for the great basketball quote Jason.
