Broken Finger.

I want to tryout for my schools basketball team but I just recently broke my middle right finger, the hand I shoot with.

I have mallet finger and I know I would've made the team if I didn't get the injury.

I'm allowed to take off the splint probably around the time tryouts come. Should I just tape it up hard and play with it? If I injure it again I might have to get surgery.

The problem is I'm a sophomore and next year I'll be a junior and they don't put juniors on JV basketball team and it will be really hard to make the varsity team next year.
